WILLEMSTAD.- In 1981, the United Nations instituted November 25th as the International Day against the Abuse of Women. With the goal for the world to raise awareness among men and women in order to combat gender violence.

More than 33% of women around the world have experienced physical violence at least once in their lives. The PAR Party, on this date wanted to commemorate and raise awareness of women in an active way. Within the framework of this initiative, the PAR party organized a morning of “Self-defense”. Sensei Leito gave a group of women of different ages lessons in self-defense techniques.

The intention of these classes is to create awareness that all people can be victims one day of a caring or social relationship in which it is important to know how to defend ourselves and escape from it if it is not healthy. In addition, the morning of “Self-defense”, sought that all women connect with the feeling of compassion and understanding that we must feel for all those women who go through this difficult situation.

Reminding each of the people present that they are valuable, so they cannot allow any kind of abuse. The PAR Party honors all victims of gender violence who have suffered emotional and physical damage and the latter even with fatal results. A general request was made so that united in Curaçao and in its totality, all would combat gender violence, based on conscience, education, prevention and repression.
