WILLEMSTAD.- Yesterday in the early hours of the morning, the authorities conducted a raid on several houses in the Otrobanda area in connection with weapons and drugs.
During the control the police obtained several boxes containing fireworks that came from the robbery that took place on Thursday, October 17, 2018, in the depository, called ‘Kruithuis’ in Brievengat.
According to pyrotechnic fire expert Gustavo Sameleer, almost nothing that was stolen from the warehouse was recovered during the raid yesterday.
What was confiscated yesterday does not even reach 5% of the total that was stolen.
Semeleer continued saying that during the action, two small boxes were obtained that were part of the total referred to, while the rest was from another importer.
The fireworks including those that are used for professional events and also those most dangerous, are still on the street, in the hands of inappropriate people.
Continuing with the investigation related to this raid, the police managed to confiscate a quantity of fireworks, 1 generator, 1 electric saw, 1 broken safe and 4 phone cases. On the site, the authorities detained the men: R.J.S aged 18 and A.A.M.St.J aged 24, both born in Curaçao.
The suspects were presented before the assistant judge, who ordered his incarceration pending further investigation.
