WILLEMSTAD.- The year 2018 was not the best for taxi drivers. In a statement to EXTRA, spokesman Gurshwin Koeiman indicated that the year 2018 was one of a lot of struggle surely for the members of Sinusta. During the year, despite their struggle many things were not ready. But everything was not in Sinusta’s hands.

According to the spokesman, despite everything, the fight will continue in 2019 as well. After the demonstrations that the union had, the Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie reacted and asked the union to give him some time to allow him to work on the uneasiness and concerns of the members in 2019. This is because the jobs They are very heavy.

Also, the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, Zita Jesus-Leito began to attend hotels and clubs that work clandestinely and against pirate taxi drivers and give them directions for when they should transport customers and tourists. The minister addressed a letter with a request to respect all taxi drivers and the work they do.

The taxi drivers indicated that during the year 2018 practically every day they had cruise ships, which shows a positive vision. But the reality is that the clientele that spends, no longer exists. Another point of concern is the increase in expenses and unemployment. The rise in unemployment means that many more clandestine taxis are activated daily and get into the work of taxi drivers who are registered.

All this has repercussions on the struggle of taxi drivers to survive, each day being much bigger. The Sinusta union asks that in this coming year 2019, all the members remain united in order to achieve the goals that have been set in the future. With unity and little by little everything will be resolved in the name and power of God. Sinusta wishes all its members and customers happy holidays, everything wonderful and many blessings for the year 2019.
