WILLEMSTAD.- Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself interim president of Venezuela, plans to move forward to appoint a representative for Curaçao. In the first instance, this representative will also serve the other islands of what was previously the Antilles. They have already established contacts behind the curtains to formalize this intention in the coming days.

According to information that EXTRA obtained within the Government of Curaçao, here they are not very happy with the idea. There is fear that the government of Nicolas Maduro will get even more angry about the ABC islands in case this appointment of a representative for Curaçao is made. Venezuela’s president Maduro can interpret it as a provocation, as indicated by a high official. Curaçao officially deals here in Curaçao with the Venezuelan consul on the island. In this context, the Government does not want to see more polarization with the neighboring country.
