WILLEMSTAD.- The board of the MAN Party announced that Hensley Koeiman, through a letter addressed to the party’s board, indicated that he places his position as Political Leader at their disposal. Since yesterday there were rumors circulating about the position of Koeiman. According to some media Koeiman withdrew because of a possible complaint / complaints against him related to the developments of the SOAW Ministry.

The MAN Party Board said that as a responsible party it respects the rules anchored in the statutes and also the internal rules; ‘The regular channels and correct procedures within which Mr. Koeiman’s decision is found will be respected. The MAN Party will handle this letter from Koeiman in due time. Koeiman, currently Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) and member of the MAN Party, is abroad exercising functions related to his work and at the time of his return his party will finish deliberating with him regarding the letter addressed to the MAN board.  As is known, Koeiman is visiting Holland and Switzerland as part of a working visit by the Ministry concerned.

According to the board at the moment, the party is focused on supplying the functions of the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and of attending the financial situation of the country, which requires all the attention, pending the application of an instruction by the Kingdom and its potential consequences for Curaçao. As is known, Kenneth Gijsbertha is occupying two simultaneous functions, which exerts a strong pressure on him. In the communiqué it is also written that the MAN Party will inform the people of Curaçao, about the decision that the party will take, after fulfilling all the procedures as already indicated.

Koeiman became the political leader of the party 6 years ago. He was the successor of Charles Cooper. Between 2010 and 2012 he was Minister of SOAW. Between December 23rd and March 24th, he was the Prime Minister of Curaçao. Since May 29th 2017 Koeiman is Minister of SOAW again.
