WILLEMSTAD.- According to Gerrit Schotte: “At the moment when the 8th day has passed, I will introduce myself, because I don’t want to have a scandalous show at my home to arrest me.” Schotte yesterday during a press conference explained that last week he presented himself, through a letter to the Public Prosecutor dated November 27th, announcing that he wanted to go voluntarily to prison.
I will volunteer to go to prison. Tomorrow, December 5th at 09:00 in the morning, he will be present to surrender himself to the director of the prison Mr. Urny Floran.
He also asked the Public Prosecutor to grant him a time until the end of March 2019 for him to begin to comply with his punishment. Schotte has not received any response. If I don’t get an answer to this letter, I will go to prison on December 5. ”
As it is known, Article 610 of the Code of Criminal Procedure stipulates that the Public Prosecutor must wait 8 days after the decision of the Court of Cassation before executing the punishment.
On 27th November the Court of Cassation confirmed the sentence for Gerrit Schotte. The Court confirmed that he received a lot of money from the accounts of his friend, Francisco Corallo in order to favor Corallo in the Government of the country of Curaçao.
