WILLEMSTAD.- Today in the afternoon, Minister for Governance, Planning and Public Service Management, Armin Konket will meet with unions represented in the CGOA consultation body. The minister revoked the circular on Friday of last week that he sent, for all government personnel. There are indications that the deliberations scheduled for today in the afternoon may be reason for the unions: SITEK, ABVO, Straf, NAPB and SAP to cancel the general meeting they convened for Tuesday at 8 a.m. with all its members.

In its circular of last week, Konket asks all public employees to grant the government a necessary space, to review their budget before making the decision to pay for indexation, fallen wages and the 3% due in 2018. The review is framed within the terrible financial situation of the country and also within the agreements that were made with the Committee for Financial Supervision to bring changes in the 2019 budget.

After this review, the Government will have real possibilities to take concrete exit points related to the financial obligations it has against public officials as previously mentioned, but also taking into account the responsibilities it has before the community as a whole. This circular sat very badly within the unions.

In the first place, the unions are furious over the fact that the government went directly to public officials and not to CGOA to deliberate with the trade union that represents the workers. The trade unions also feel that the Government does not intend to pay indexation, nor indexation of wages / salaries, nor the 3% that is still due in 2018.

This for the unions is not acceptable and for this reason calls a general meeting to all its members, for this Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the ABVO headquarters.
