WILLEMSTAD.- “Sehos is claiming that they have very little budget, that’s the way it is or not. We agreed with Sehos to help them with their situation. It corresponds to them as part of an advance. This was indicated by the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Suzy Camelia-Romer during a press conference yesterday of the Council of Ministers.

Sehos already got an advance from SVB to continue. Last week Sehos did not perform any of the operations that was planned because of problems that had to be handled concerning the lack of materials required in the operating rooms.

According to Camelia-Romer, Sehos must submit a structured and explanatory report that demonstrates how this Institution will continue working in 2018 to reach 2019. The only thing that Sehos was able to guarantee recently were the operations that were of an emergency nature.

Camelia-Romer: “We agreed with Sehos that for the rest of this year 2018 we want to have a vision of what will be missing and what the needs are in terms of materials and instruments, etc, so we can solve the problem with Sehos from now until the end of the year. It was also agreed with Sehos to make an overview for 2019. That year we expect that the new Hospital will be ready. We want a projection on the whole situation and in this way be well prepared.” Minister Camelia-Romer pointed out that the Government is not responsible for the management of Sehos. The Hospital has its own board. At the moment, the hospital cannot function completely and for this reason, the government must make a decision immediately.

Today the Minister will sit with Sehos together with the Finance Department, curators and all other stakeholders to see the possibilities of reaching a positive solution.
