WILLEMSTAD – This past Monday different partners of the judicial chain such as Customs, Coast Guard, Police and Department of Port Inspection and Security performed an operation called Operation Lockdown. This is a combined operation of severe control over maritime activity. This control regards all the movements, in and out of the water.

This control took place in ‘Kleinewerf’ and also in the ‘Spaanse Water’ area. A total of 13 boats were controlled including all the fruit boats and also the boats that were docked on the water. Likewise, special attention was paid to monitoring possible boats that carry out commercial trips to Klein Curaçao, verifying if they have a valid permit.

During the control, the authorities came across a boat floating adrift. According to the authorities, someone stole this boat’s engine and then left the boat floating. An attentive person looked at the boat and called 913. Coast guards towed the boat and went with it to land to deliver it to its owner.

Apart from this, until this moment nothing has been found illegal during the control, but at the moment in which this happens, they will deliver the case into the hands of the Police Force.
