WILLEMSTAD.- As is known, Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath together with Minister Suzy Camelia-Römer and Minister Kenneth Gijsbertha have participated this morning in the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom in The Hague. During the meeting Rhuggenaath had the opportunity to inform the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom regarding the financial management for Curaçao and with this request the Council not to sign an oversight with the Junior Minister Raymond Knops (Kingdom Relations). The news is that the Council of Kingdom Ministers gave the Rhuggenaath cabinet a period of three weeks and after that time the parties meet again.

The prime minister said before the meeting this morning that if the Council of Ministers agrees with the instruction on the conditions of the Financial Supervision College (CFT), this would have devastating consequences for Curaçao. One of the biggest concerns, according to Rhuggenaath, is that the consequences due to the introduction of the measures within the framework of the instruction will produce a very drastic collapse. According to Rhuggenaath “an instruction” could have as a consequence that the real gross domestic product of 8.6% for 2019, will fall by 3.9% and by 2020 it will be reduced by 8.6%. Rhuggenaath recently said: “The measures will have a very negative impact on our community. There will be very negative consequences on the possible growth of our economy in the next period.”
